The experiments were conducted with HPLC methods to determine the contents of free sugars and amino acids in various species of medicinal Flos chrysanthemi.The results showed that the main free sugars in Flos chrysanthemi were fructose and glucose;there were no sucrose and maltose.The total contents of free sugars in Flos chrysanthemi were in the range of 9.07~18.76 g/100 g.The highest content of total free sugars was found in Gongju with 18.76 g/100 g,while the lowest content in Huangju with 9.01 g/100 g.The total levels of free amino acids in Flos chrysanthemi ranged from 2.806 to 0.563 g/100 g,among which Qi yueju showed the highest level of total free amino acids with 2.806 g/100 g,Hang baiju showed the lowest level of total free amino acids with 0.563 g/100 g.
