How to treat learner errors has been an important issue both for second language teaching and language research. There is considerable controversy about the role and importance of corrective feedback in L2 acquisition. This entry begins by defining corrective feedback and its various types. It then discusses research that has examined its role in L2 acquisition. The article concludes with implications of the issues discussed for classroom teaching.
