摘要
Alanine can be synthesised de novo from amino acids in muscle and other tissues by a pathway recently described. It can therefore act as a common carrier of amino acid carbon for use in hepatic gluconeogenesis. The release of alanine from peripheral tissues is an important factor in maintaining glucose homeostasis in health and disease.
