This chapter presents the idea that mobilizing the notion of professional space enables progress to be made in understanding the changes taking place within and on the periphery of the nursing profession. It provides an analysis of the nursing professional space and its current transformations. The notion of professional space is mobilized to show how, and to what extent, professional logics are at the heart of the creation of innovative organizations. Two forms of the extension of the nursing professional space illustrate the challenges, brakes and levers that allow organizational innovation to take the path of professional innovation. The universitarization of nursing and paramedical studies and the opening of long courses up to the doctorate level are understood and accepted.
