The highly cited paper of Koloman Laki appearing in 1951 in the journal is a landmark study which paved the way for future understanding of the multi-step mechanism by which the soluble blood protein, fibrinogen, is transformed by proteolytic cleavage through the action of the blood clotting factor, thrombin, into an insoluble fibrin blood clot.
