SummaryPapaya microcuttings cultured in full-strength and half-strength Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing a combination of 2.2 µM BA and IBA from 29.5 μM to 49.2 μM produced roots which were thick and stumpy accompanied by callus tissue at the basal end. Microcuttings dipped in 12.3 mM IBA and then cultured in medium of distilled water plus 1 × 10−2 kg m−3 agar produced normal roots without any callus forming at the basal end. The rooting ability of the microcutting was dependent on the genotype. Rooting percentage was not affected by different light intensities.
