Concepts in Iodine Catalysis

Iodine can form inorganic and organic derivatives in various oxidation states, and the structural features and reactivity patterns of these iodine compounds are similar to those of the derivatives of heavy transition metals. However, in contrast to heavy metals, iodine is both environmentally friendly and relatively inexpensive. This chapter focuses on the concepts in iodine catalysis for organic reactions.
