The human-machine interface is an important factor in computer systems. It is thought that line-of-sight (LOS) detection technology will allow significant advances in this field. The current study is intended to be a step in that direction. Two processes were established to fulfil the plan of this study. In process 1, a non-contact LOS detection method was developed that is able to be used freely and naturally using image processing. Markers or equipment worn by the user are no longer needed to detect LOS. In process 2, the new detection method was applied in developing an ON/OFF control equipment system using human LOS. Two key points are that the user is able to move freely and naturally and that only LOS is required to operate these systems.
