Retrospective analysis on PICC complications for patients with malignant tumor combined with mellitus diabetes

Objective To explore the complications after PICC indwelling for patients with malignant tumor combined with mellitus diabetes. Methods To retrospectively analyze the clinical data of patients with malignant tumor combined with mellitus diabetes who suffered from PICC during chemotherapy,to observe the incidence of complications during long-term PICC catheter indwelling. Results The top three of catheter problems in the process were: catheter problems,bleeding and hematoma,and catheter ectopic.The top three of complications during long-term PICC catheter indwelling were mechanical phlebitis,catheter-related infections and catheter blockage.The incidence of catheter-related infections and mechanical phlebitis significantly increased with blood glucose values increasing. Conclusions Infection related to PICC catheter is associated with blood glucose levels,and catheter-related complications increase with blood glucose levels increasing.Blood glucose should be closely monitored before and after chemotherapy for PICC catheter indwelling.
