Synthesis of α-Ketophenylalanine Calcium

Two routes for the preparation of α -ketophenylalanine calcium from hydantoin or α - acetamidocinnamic acid were studied.The structure of the target compound was characterized with spectra analysis.The route which used hydantoin as the starting material showed lower costs and higher yield and is suitable for industrial-scale production.
