摘要
The British Orthopaedic Association Standards (BOASTs) serve to offer safe, pragmatic and reasonable guidance on the management of common orthopaedic conditions. The standards are designed to be auditable, and serve as an aide memoire to assist in delivering high quality care. There is a natural life-cycle for a BOAST and after a certain time point, an update of the standards may be required due to advances or changes in practice and understanding of the clinical condition referred to. In this instance, the British Orthopaedic Association is pleased to announce the latest version of the BOAST on the management of Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), which was published in November of 2022. It supersedes all previous versions, and now offers greater focus on the multidisciplinary care patients with SCI require, as well as providing enhanced recommendations on documentation and referral pathways.
