Treatment-related thoracic soft tissue sarcomas in survivors of breast cancer

We read with great interest the Article1 by Lene H S Veiga and colleagues in The Lancet Oncology, which reported the host and therapeutic risk factors for development of thoracic soft tissue sarcomas in survivors of breast cancer. We are impressed by the authors' novel findings that hypertension and diabetes are each associated with around a five-times increase in the risk of thoracic angiosarcoma. The authors speculated that lymphoedema could be a good mediator for these associations. Nonetheless, we wish to express further insights into these findings.
