摘要
A short review is given on various tiltmeter principles, instrumental design, resolution, sensitivity, and long-term stability. Instrumental capabilities are compared. Examples of anomalous tilt associated with earthquake activities are shown. The importance of tidal tilt measurement as a constraining factor for the computation of earthquake generating processes and earthquake triggering effects is stressed.
