Riparian zones are important depositional environments at the catchment scale and provide environmental services such as carbon sequestration. This zone is a highly dynamic interface for oxygen and electron exchange, which confers the basis for reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. However, the differences in soil ROS production and their impact on carbon turnover across various redox locations within the riparian zone remain to be fully elucidated.
