Improving surgical therapeutic strategies to circumvent postoperative complications of type I and IV congenital choledochal cysts

Choledochal cysts is a relatively common benign biliary malformation. Surgery is its only radical treatment, and so surgical concept and technique could play a key role in affecting the prognosis and life quality of the patients. According to Todani classification, type Ⅰ and type Ⅳ choledochal cysts are the most common types. Inappropriate surgical operation for choledochal cysts can cause serious postoperative complications and seriously affect the patient's life quality and prognosis. By improving surgical strategies and designing reasonably individualized surgical treatment according to the characteristics of the disease and the Todani type, the risk of short-term and long-term postoperative complications of choledochal cysts can be effectively avoided or reduced.
