The drug-discovery process

This chapter puts the role of pharmacology into the perspective of modern methods employed in the drug-discovery and development process. Target-based versus phenotypic-based screening strategies are contrasted as well as the role of screening and libraries. Finally, discussion of the clinical testing of new drugs is highlighted.
