摘要
This article reports the trapezoid tearing behaviors of uncoated and coated woven fabrics in experimental and finite element analyses approaches. In experimental, trapezoid tearing behaviors of uncoated and coated woven fabrics were tested to obtain tearing load–displacement curves and tearing failure developments. The tearing strength and damage morphologies of the two kinds of fabrics were compared to find the tearing damage differences between uncoated and coated woven fabrics during the trapezoid tearing process. In finite element analysis, microstructure geometrical models of both the uncoated and coated woven fabrics were constructed to calculate the stress distribution and tearing failure propagation. There are good agreements between the finite element analysis results and those in experimental. Moreover, the influence of the coating on the trapezoid tearing properties was discussed. The tearing failure differences of the uncoated woven fabric and the base fabric in the coated woven fabric was also compared for finding the tearing failure mechanisms of the coated fabric. Such an investigation can be extended to the design of the coated woven fabric with high tearing strength.
