摘要
The sense of smell serves as one of the major sensory of the human body. It plays an important role in determining the flavor of foods and beverages, warning of, or protecting against environmental hazards, as well as promoting appetite. Recent study even suggested its function in regulating life cycle via central nervous system. More and more patients complain about olfactory dysfunction nowadays, which increases the utility of olfactory measurements. We aim to review the clinical assessment of olfactory function, both subjectively and objectively, in this paper so that clinicians be aware of all approaches available.
