This paper intends to make a detailed comparative study of the Chinese novel Qingyi by Bi Feiyu,an aclaimed comtemporary novelist who has twice won the Lu Xun Literary Prize, and its English version The Moon Opera translated by Howard Goldblatt and his wife Sylvia Li-chun Lin.The comparison is conducted on different levels, with special emphasis on the translation methods, translation strategy and the reproduction of literariness of the original work.It is hoped that the present study can shed some light on the actual situation of comtemporary Chinese works in the English world and the effective ways for them to be more widely recognized among potential English readers.
