Biofloc technology has a profound influence on the application of aquaculture mass production. In 2007, Aqua fish culture added 43% of marine faunal food for anthropogenic consumptions. Aquaculture necessarily focuses on fish farming and also incorporates the complete gamut diversity of marine animals and phyto forms in the diversity of marine, fresh, and saline habitats. Aquaculture takes into account the culturing any aquatic animals for the applied production of some economically important products. A total of half of weight of aquaculture production comes from fishes followed by one-fourth comes from mussels, oysters and clams, and further followed by seaweeds and algae. China and other Asian countries accounted for most of the carp production. The present review article discusses the global status and trends in the field of biofloc system in aquaculture.
