Developments in Jacquard woven fabrics

Recent developments in Jacquard shedding systems and their flexibility and capabilities in producing intricate striking designs (such as Damask, Brocade, Brocatelle, Matelasee, and Tapestry fabrics) are explained. The capacity of Jacquard shedding systems in the production of smart electronic textiles, industrial textiles, and shaped seamless garments are also described. The production procedures of converting artwork to Jacquard patterns using weave structures combined with coloured warp and filling yarns and computer-aided design (CAD) systems are reviewed. The properties of Jacquard woven fabrics as related to the weave design as well as the constituents of the woven structure are covered.
