Chondromyxoid Fibroma of Bone

The accumulated experience of 207 cases of chondromyxoid fibroma is reviewed. Eight new cases are added, 4 of which exhibited unusual size and/or focal microscopic calcification, pathologic fracture, diaphyseal location. The decisive role played by the radiologist in identifying the benign nature of the lesion is emphasized. Roentgenograms usually suggest a benign lesion whose appearance may vary, depending on the configuration of host bones. In long bone the lesion typically appears as a circumscribed, eccentrically situated, round or oval metaphyseal defect with its long axis directed along the long axis of the bone.
