摘要
Abstract MXenes, which are an incredibly new class of 2D nanomaterials with a variety of possible applications, including nitrides, metal carbides, and carbonitrides, have attracted a lot of attention recently. Hydrophilicity, electron richness, a high specific surface area, a large number of highly active surface sites, and an abundance of surface terminations are some of MXene's characteristics. The capacity of MXene to adsorb a wide range of contaminants, such as pesticides, heavy metals, colors, and pharmaceuticals, is a notable feature. The most recent MXene structure, synthesis, characteristics, and various applications are covered in this review paper. In addition, there is a lot of emphasis on MXenes' adsorption capability and the factors that affect it for the removal of various contaminants (such as organic pollutants, heavy metals, medicinal compounds, radionuclides, etc.). It highlights the surface modification methods for MXene's removal of various contaminants, including intercalation, acidification, and alkalization. Finally, the future prospects for research in all areas of environmental and pollution remediation are covered in this paper.
