摘要
Suicide rates have not significantly decreased in the past decade. Current theory points to capability for suicide, linked to physical pain tolerance, to explain why ideation does not universally precede attempt. Notably, there are no reliable predictors distinguishing suicide ideators from people at high risk of attempt, and no studies have investigated physical pain-invoked neural activity within a suicide-risk population.
