Allenoates are very important compounds in organic synthesis due to their various reactivity. The enolate-like intermediate zwitterionic can act as α-carbon anion, γ-carbon anion or 1,3-dipole and participate in the diverse transformation such as cycloadditions and general base-mediated reactions. Recently, phosphine and amine-catalyzed reactions of allenoate are noted. Also, asymmetric synthesis is possible with the use of chiral catalysts. The allenoates are employed for the synthesis of many spirocyclic, polycyclic, and other new compounds. This review describes recent research on the chemistry of allenoates and their applications in the organic synthesis.
