Inonotus hispidus has been traditionally and widely used to treat several diseases in some parts of Asia, such as diarrhea, bleeding and dysentery. Many studies confirm the phenolic substances from I. hispidus with very high bioactive properties, which is a promising resource for producing functional foods. In this work, five kinds of macroporous adsorption resin (MAR) were evaluated by the purification efficiency of phenolic substances of I. hispidus. MAR HPD-600 exhibited the best adsorption effect on the phenolic substances and the adsorption process fitted the Pseudo-second-order kinetic equation well. Simultaneously, its adsorption isotherm fitted the Langmuir model better which meant the process was a spontaneous exothermic reaction. Subsequently, the dynamic adsorption and desorption conditions were optimized, the concentration of phenols extracted increased from 3.48% to 21% and the recovery ratio got to 81.72% finally. This study could provide a meaningful guide for the industrial extraction of phenolic substances of I. hispidus.
