Potassium ion signaling mediates microbial communication in electroactive biofilms within microbial fuel cells (MFCs), but its role in nitrogen removal remains unclear. This study investigated the impact of inhibiting potassium signaling on nitrogen removal in MFCs using tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA) as an inhibitor.
