Selective hydrodeoxygenation of tartaric acid to succinic acid

A novel one-step process for the selective production of succinic acid from tartaric acid is developed. High succinic yield is achieved in an efficient catalytic system comprised of MoO_x/BC, HBr and acetic acid under hydrogen atmosphere.
