摘要
Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related death, and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most frequent type. Our research has identified sodium-glucose transporter 2 (SGLT2) as a critical player in glucose uptake in pre-malignant and well-differentiated LUAD cells, whereas more advanced and poorly differentiated lesions rely on GLUT1 for sugar uptake. SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are FDA-approved drugs, already administered to millions of patients for diabetes, heart failure, and kidney disease.
