Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a remarkable form of nanocellulose produced by nonpathogenic bacteria. Its versatility and exceptional physical, chemical, and biological characteristics make bacterial cellulose a highly valuable material in diverse industries such as food, cosmetics, and biomedicine. Furthermore, its application extends to tissue engineering and the development of smart delivery systems, highlighting its potential in advancing therapeutic approaches for various fields, including eye tissue engineering and ocular drug delivery. This comprehensive review gives a complete analysis of the cutting-edge applications of BC-based composites in the field of eye tissue engineering.
