Abstract Transition metal‐catalyzed CH functionalization represents one of the most viably pursuing research areas in modern synthetic chemistry. Significant attention has been drawn to addressing the challenging functionalization of C(sp 3 )H bonds, particularly un‐activated C(sp 3 )H bonds. Among various strategies, hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) represents a distinct yet attractive approach for the direct and selective functionalization of C(sp 3 )H bonds. This article highlights the recent development of photochemical HAT‐enabled nickel and copper‐catalyzed selective functionalization of C(sp 3 )H bonds, with a particular emphasis on reaction development and mechanistic discussions.
