Putaminal hypointensity on T2-weighted MRI mimicking multiple system atrophy in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: An autopsy case report

•We report a patient with ALS who shows T2-shortening of putamen on MRI. •The putamen was involved with severe TDP-43 pathology. •Iron deposition in microglia may be related to MRI T2-shortening.
