A new glycosidic alkaloid, (−)-(trans-3′-methoxy-4′-α-l-rhamnosyloxy cinnamoyl)epilupinine, was isolated from the aerial parts of Lupinus varius, together with the eight knownalkaloids, (−)-(trans-4′-α-l-rhamnosyloxycinnamoyl) epilupinine, (+)-(trans-4′-hydroxy-3′-methoxy-cinnamoyl) epilupinine, (+)-epilupinine, (+)-epilupinine-N-oxide,(−)-multiflorine, (−)-δ5-dehydromultiflorine, (+)-ammodendrine and (−)-sparteine. Benzoylepilupinine was identified by GC–mass spectral analysis. The structure of the new glycosidicalkaloid was determined by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
