摘要
Mg-based hydrogen storage materials produce hydrogen by reacting with water, which is reversible and recyclable. Hydrogen technology has been attracting attention as an efficient energy storage method, and hydrogen production from the hydrolysis of Mg-based hydrogen storage materials is one of the promising methods. This chapter describes the hydrolysis of Mg and magnesium hydride (MgH 2 ). The hydrolysis of Mg and MgH 2 possesses a series of advantages, including low material cost, abundant Mg resources, non-pollution oxidation by-products, moderate reaction temperature, and mature Mg recycling technology. The chapter discusses control of hydrolysis process by various methods, including modification of reaction mediate, addition of catalytic additives, introduction of MgH 2 based nanostructures, and alloying. Finally, it describes the MgH 2 hydrogen production system.
