Synthesis of(R)-2-aryl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-oxazolines

(R)-2-aryl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-oxazolines were synthesized from L-serine methyl ester hydrochloride and aryl cyanides in three steps,including imidization,cyclization and reduction.Their structures were confirmed by IR,MS and 1HNMR.The experimental results showed that(S)-2-aryl-4-carbomethoxy-1,3-oxazolines could be reduced to(R)-2-aryl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-oxazolines effectively with NaBH4 in ethanol.
