Abstract A fluorescent probe (Probe 1) for the visible colorimetric detection of tyrosinase (Tyr) was developed. The quantitative range of detection of Tyr activity detected was 0 to 800 u/mL with the detection limit (LOD) was 5.00 u/mL. The probe solution emitted increasing yellow‐green luminescence with increasing Tyr activity, which was observed under a 365 nm UV lamp. In addition, the green (G) and red (R) values of these photos had a linear relationship with the activity of Tyr. Probe 1 could be used for the quantitative and quantification detection of Tyr activity in real fruits samples using a smartphone. Colorimetry with catechol as the substrate was used to determine the accuracy of this method. This work shows that Probe 1 can be used for the quantitative detection of Tyr using just a smartphone.
