The fermentation process of the new anticancer compound alternol

Objective To study the fermentation process of alternol,produced by a paclitaxel producing strain isolated from the bark of Taxus yunnanensis Cheng et L.K.Fu.Methods The preferential medium in the flask culture was obtained by single parameter and orthogonal experiment design.Then the suitable pH value and the ratio of air in 5 liters tanks were gained.Finally,the pilot scale process in 50 liters tanks was determined.Results Our results show that the ratio of m(C)∶m(N)=40∶80,the pH value were 6.2 to 7.2,the ratios of air were 1.0 to 1.2,the DO must be higher than 10%,the specific growth rate must be maintained at the 10%.The expression rate of alternol was 420 mg·L-1 in the 50 liters tank.Conclusions As the key parameter,the specific growth rate must be controlled at 10% during fermentation.
