A Larger Aortomesenteric Angle is Associated with the Occurrence of Spontaneous Isolated Superior Mesenteric Artery Dissection

Spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection (SISMAD) was considered to be a rare disease1 but has been increasingly reported.2 Most studies have focused on the characteristics or treatment of SISMAD, but the aetiology of SISMAD remains unknown.2 Some have suggested that a large aortomesenteric angle (AMA) may be associated with the occurrence of SISMAD,3–5 but the sample size was small3,5 or a control group was absent.3 This retrospective case control study aimed to further evaluate the association between AMA on a continuous scale and SISMAD risk.
