摘要
Abstract The polymerization of glutaraldehyde was carried out under various conditions. The soluble and fusible polymer fraction was isolated from the polymer which was obtained by using a triethylaluminum‐water complex as catalyst. This soluble polymer has very low aldehyde content. From these results as well as from the infrared‐spectroscopic observation it was confirmed that glutaraldehyde was converted to a polymer consisting of the α‐oxypyran ring as main chain unit through intramolecular‐intermolecular propagation mechanism.
