Isolation and characterization of phenolic substances from the silkworm, Bombyx mori

By means of ion-exchange chromatography, seven phenolic substances were found in the pupal extract of Bombyx mori. They are two glucosides of o-diphenol, three o-diphenols, tyrosine, and 3-hydroxykynurenine. One of the glucosides was identified as N-acetyldopamine-4-0-β-glucoside. One of the o-diphenol is dopa and the other one seems to be of the previously unknown type, having an imino group.
