Large-scale synthesis of highly dispersed layered double hydroxide powders containing delaminated single layer nanosheets

A facile method for the synthesis of Zn2Al-borate and Mg3Al-borate layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with extremely high specific surface areas of 458.6 and 263 m2 g−1 and containing delaminated nanosheets is reported. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of LDH powders that still remain exfoliated on drying.
