Genome mining and heterologous expression reveal streptacidin, a new lasso peptide from Streptacidiphilus jiangxiensis

We heterologously produced a type II lasso peptide gene cluster that was mined from Streptacidiphilus jiangxiensis in E. coli . Streptacidin is the first lasso peptide documented to maintain its 3D structure with methionine as a steric lock.
