摘要
A preliminary, non-randomised, retrospective assessment of data identified 70 patients with intractable bowel symptoms following sphincter-saving, low anterior resection surgery for rectal cancer, diagnosed at a specialist centre in Korea. Anterior resection syndrome can result from a decreased rectal reservoir volume, sphincter damage and impaired autonomic bowel innervation and manifests with faecal urgency, incontinence, stool fragmentation or incomplete evacuation.
