Gradient structures mainly boost the dielectric and mechanical properties of composites. Herein, the fabrication of silicon carbide (SiC)/epoxy gradient composites via centrifugal casting was carried out. Samples having different weight percentages (upto-30%) were prepared by centrifugal casting and compared with non-centrifuged samples. The prepared samples were characterized for their dielectric behavior such as breakdown strength, dielectric constant, and dissipation factor. The centrifuged samples exhibited better dielectric strength as compared to the non-centrifuged ones. The breakdown voltage of the sample was increasing owing to an increase in SiC contents in the direction of centrifugal force. However, the gradient samples exhibited a low dielectric constant as compared to non-gradient samples. The mechanism involved in such phenomenon is proposed and discussed in the text.
