摘要
Abstract This chapter will explore various routes of insulin delivery systems for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes (T1D and T2D, respectively). Traditionally, the most common form of insulin delivery is by administration with a syringe or a pen. Recent advancements in diabetes administration technologies have rapidly enhanced the systems of insulin delivery, and delivery devices have expanded to include insulin inhalation cartridges, pumps, and automated insulin delivery systems. The diverse options of delivery systems can be used to improve the care of patients with T1D and T2D by providing alternative methods to insulin delivery, which allows healthcare providers to tailor medication therapy to individual patient considerations and outcomes. Advantages and disadvantages of the insulin delivery devices including type of insulin used, dosing regimen, ease of administration, device education and training, and self-management capabilities will be discussed. Novel insulin delivery systems and future directions of diabetes administration technology under clinical investigation will be further examined.
