摘要
A meta-analysis involving 18 studies on endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms using flow-diverter devices revealed a posttreatment mean complication rate of 2.9% for hemorrhage and 3.4% for mortality (1). Previous studies have linked aneurysm ruptures to stent-induced hemodynamic variances (2) and a pathophysiologic cascade of biological events resulting in aneurysmal wall degradation (3). This study quantified the motion of a conformed flow-diverting stent (FDS) against the aneurysmal vessel wall to analyze whether mechanical interactions could be detrimental to the stability of aneurysms.
