Energy harvesting is an emerging field that aims to convert ambient energy sources into useful energy that can be used to power various devices. One innovative area of research involves connecting energy- harvesting materials and tools directly to electrochemical methods. This approach allows electrochemical processes to be regulated in the occurrence of piezoelectric materials, which can influence electrochemically occurring reactions through the electric charge 266produced by mechanical stress. This chapter provides a summary of the fundamental attributes of piezoelectric materials and compares their electrochemical performance under different conditions. Mechanisms of piezo-electrochemical coupling are discussed in detail and a comparison is made between the different material morphologies employed. This chapter also highlights possible future courses and functions for the advances of piezo-electrochemical fusion systems. Overall, this chapter aims to provide a comprehensive summary of recent studies on how piezoelectric materials can be used to control electrochemical processes, with the goal of inspiring and guiding future research in this emerging field.
