摘要
Biomass is a potential alternative to traditional fossil fuels and can be used for the production of biofuel and hydrogen, which are considered green energy resources. Hydrogen production through photocatalytic biomass conversion is an environmentally friendly pathway for reforming biomass that produces carbon-free energy. In these photocatalytic processes, sustainable and efficient reaction substrates, such as lignocellulosic biomass, are used, and the only energy input is the abundantly available solar energy. This review focuses on the recent advancements in the strategies for hydrogen production from biomass and biomass-derived substrates, such as glucose, glycerol, and polysaccharides, via photocatalysis to obtain highly desirable and controllable biofuels. These photocatalytic processes are promising and serve as potentially viable methods for the conversion of biomass into more efficient biofuels.
