Abstract Orientation control of LDH was attempted using magnetic crystalline anisotropy, and alignment control was explored through magnetic dipole interactions. Under an external magnetic field, Mg-Al LDH and Ni-Al LDH oriented, and the LDH composite membrane prepared in the magnetic field showed enhanced anion conductivity in the direction parallel to the LDH layer plane. In Ni-Al LDH, a connected structure was observed due to magnetic dipole interactions; however, improved anion conductivity was not observed, likely due to improper orientation.
