Quick switching systems (QSSs) for acceptance sampling are defined and their properties are investigated under two different process models. Operating characteristic curves are determined under the constant process average model and tables are provided for determining quick switching systems that match a single sampling plan. QSSs are shown to be more efficient than single sampling plans and not as efficient as chain sampling plans. Average run length (ARL) is used to investigate the properties of a QSS under a shift in process average model. These investigations lead to several recommendations for implementation. Several additional quick switching systems are defined and tables are available for their implementation.
